NHS Grampian appoints AECOM as technical advisor for The Baird Family Hospital and the ANCHOR Centre

AECOM has been appointed by NHS Grampian as technical advisor on the new £120m scheme to build The Baird Family Hospital and the ANCHOR Centre in Aberdeen, Scotland.

The healthcare team was appointed in competition through the Scottish Futures Trust Framework, drawing on its expertise and track record in procurement, design, cost, transaction advisory, and facilities management.

AECOM will work with NHS Grampian to prepare the Outline Business Case and then procure the project via OJEU and competitive dialogue.

The project will be constructed and operated at the Foresterhill Health Campus through a public-private partnership using the Non Profit Distributing (NPD) revenue-funded model. This model has superseded the traditional private finance initiative (PFI) model in Scotland and focuses on the core principles of enhanced stakeholder involvement in the management of projects; no dividend bearing equity; and capped private sector returns.

Kevin Bradley, head of Scotland in AECOM’s UK programme, cost and consultancy practice, said: “This appointment further builds upon our long-established working relationship with NHS Grampian that extends over 10 years.

“We are now focused on ensuring the outline project programme maintains momentum and look forward to contributing to NHS Grampian fulfilling its ambitions to modernise healthcare infrastructure and meet the long-term health needs of the people in the North East of Scotland.”
